Case registered against Govt employee under DVA
Chennai, Oct 30: City police today registered a case against an employee of the public sector Chennai Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd (CPCL) under the Domestic Violence Act(DVA) for alleged sexual and dowry harassment.
Police said, the case was registered against Sivakumr working as Technician in CPCL, following a complaint from his wife.
Sivakumar was absconding and police were on the look out for him.
In her complaint, the woman, working as a teacher in a private school, alleged she was subjected to torture by her husband who had taken obscene pictures of her in his mobile phone, and demanded more dowry.
Cases under various sections of the IPC were also registered against him, police added.
This was the second case registered under the Act, which came into force a couple of days ago, in Tamil Nadu and first in the city. Two days back, an employee of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) was arrested at Tirunelveli for harassing and causing injuries to his wife.
