BJP demands deployment of Cetral security forces in Punjab elections
Chandigarh, Oct 30 (UNI) Apprehending ''large scale violence'' during the coming assembly elections in Punjab, the BJP has demanded deployment of central security forces during the polls scheduled in February 2007.
The BJP apprehended use of money and muscle power by the Congressmen during the assembly polls, Punjab BJP leaders M M Mittal and Vineet Joshi said at a press conference here.
Playing a CD film which showed local Congressmen allegedly capturing the booth in the Municipal Council by-election in Patiala on Saturday last, Mr Joshi sought immediate annulment of the MC by-elections.
''The photographs and video clips of shameless Congress leaders casting bogus votes after daylight booth capturing in Patiala needs not further elaboration as the congress henchmen and goons stand exposed before the public of Punjab and so does the baseless claims of Punjab DGP S S Virk to conduct free and fair assembly polls in the state,'' remarked BJP Youth leader Vineet Joshi.
Referring to the reports of mass scale rigging and manipulation in MC by-elections in Jalandhar, Patiala and certain other places the party has demanded that elections held should be immediately scrapped.
The Party released a seven-visual CD which showed rigging and booth capturing at the polling stations in Patiala on Saturday.
