BJP confident of victory in Uttaranchal assembly polls
Lucknow, Oct 30 (UNI) Senior Uttaranchal BJP leader and former minister Ramesh Pokhariyal today said his party was set to capture power in the hill state after the Assembly polls slated in February next year.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Pokhariyal, general secretary of the party in Uttaranchal, said the Congress regime in the state had converted it into a Rs 1,500 crore debt ridden state by its failure.
''People are waiting for the Assembly polls to vent resentment against the Congress,'' he claimed.
Raising the issue to change state's name, he said the Congress was only misusing the power for political reasons by propasing to change the name from Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand.
Alleging there were several scams in the present Narain Dutt Tiwari government, the BJP leader claimed all such scams would be unearthed once his party come to power.
Meanwhile, the BJP leader has appealed the people of Uttar Pradesh, particularly those hailing from the hill state, to vote in favour of the BJP candidates in the forthcoming elections.
