Barua, Ramesh stretched at Poona Club knock-out rapid chess tourney

Pune, Oct 30 (UNI) Grand Master Dibyendu Barua and R B Ramesh had a harrowing time before overcoming their opponents via a tie-breaker to enter the second round of the Poona Club Knock-out International Rapid Chess championship being conducted by Budhibal Krida Trust and the Poona Club in association with Chess Players Association of India, which got underway here today.

In the women's category, wild card entrant youngster kurtika Nadagi of Bangalore scored the biggest upset of the day by accounting for women Grand Master Swati Ghate in the championship.

The tournament got off to a brisk start though the results were on the expected lines, but with some excitement.
