Ban gla instability: WB tightens security along Indo-Bangla border
Kolkata, Oct 30 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said necessary steps had been taken on the Indo-Bangla border following political instability in Bangladesh.
''Required measures have been taken on the India-Bangla border and secretary-level talks initiated by the Centre,'' Mr Bhattacharjee told reporters here.
He, however, refused to comment on whether the government was apprehending largescale infiltration from across the border in the wake of the turmoil in the neighbouring country.
''We are quite aware of the situation and have taken all necessary steps in this regard,'' the Chief Minister said.
Meanwhile, state Chief Secretary Prasad Ranjan Roy said the Border Security Force (BSF) and other official agencies had been put on high alert for the last three days on the entire stretch of the Indo-Bangla border in the state.
