Air Deccan announces 35 new flights

Bangalore, Oct 30 (UNI) India's first low cost carrier Air Deccan today announced the launch of 35 new flights across various sectors, taking the total number of flights to over 300.

The airline also added three new destinations -- Kandla, Lilabari and Imphal to its wide network, taking the total number of destination to 59 the largest network in the country.

In addition to consolidating its metro network, Air Deccan, in a release here, said it would further strengthen its connectivity to more mini metros and tier-II cities such as Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Silchar, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry and Kandla. The airline was also targeting tourist and pilgrim destinations such as Jaipur, Tirupati, Madurai and Lilabari.

Air Deccan Managing Director Capt G R Gopinath said the airliner had always stressed on regional connectivity and providing air links to smaller and tier-II cities.

''The country's wealth actually lies in these cities and air connectivity is extremely essential to tap the potential to the fullest.'' Connecting cities like Kandla, Lilabari, Imphal and Rajahmundry by air was important as it opened up the horizon for these towns, providing multitudes of opportunities in terms of business and education, he said.
