12 FIRs stand registered against Qasim in Srinagar; IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 30 (UNI) Al-Badr militant Mohammad Ali Hussain alias Qasim, arrested by Karnataka police from Mysore yesterday and is believed to have masterminded a series of grenade attacks in Kashmir valley will be interrogated by sleuths of the Jammu and Kashmir police soon.

This was stated by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir S M Sahai here today.

He said the militant was using many names like Jehangir alias Afghan alias Asif KLhan alias Zahre alias Qasim and was carrying on his activities in Srinagar city and Harwan area.

The IGP said as many as 12 cases under sections 302, 364, 341,323, 307 Crpc and 7/25 under the Arms act have been registered in various police stations against him.

Mr Sahai said be had killed Assistant Sub Inspector Abdul Rahim Sofi and his son Gowher Ali, residents of Newthead, Shabir Ahmad Awan of Faqir Gorgee, Mohammad Yousuf Khatana of Daradkore, Mohammad Yousuf Hajam of Gandtal and Mohammad Rafiq Awan and many others.
