Venugopal receives NAMC lifetime achievement award
Hyderabad, Oct 29 (UNI) Chennai-based surgeon and medical teacher, A Venugopal recieved the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) Lifetime achievement award for his immense contribution in the medical and health sector.
Planning Commission Member Syeda Hameed presented the award to Professor Venugopal at a Convocation function of the 46 annual conference of NAMS organised in the city.
Professor Venugopal, eldest son of the doyen in medical profession Arcot Lakshmanaswami Mudaliar, has served on the Academic Councils and Syndicates of several Universities and has been responsible for the growth of medical education in Tamil Nadu.
He was also appointed as the first Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences of the Madras University in 1975.
