Vajpayee to protest Afzal's clemency plea
New Delhi, Oct 29: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will lead a march by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on the first day of Parliament's winter session next month, as a part of the campaign opposing clemency for death-row convict Mohammad Afzal Guru.
The BJP, which originally planned to hold its national security pledge march on November 27 in Delhi, advanced it due to rescheduling of the winter session from November 22.
The march will led by Mr Vajpayee, party president Rajnath Singh and Mr L K Advani, said BJP's vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
Mr Advani, alongwith Mr Murli Manohar Joshi and Mr Kalyan Singh, are scheduled to participate in a similar event at Ayodhya before the start of winter session.
The BJP, which will observe November 15 to 21 as a national security pledge week, today also came out with a new set of slogans to target the ruling UPA for its handling of terrorism.
