Agartala, Oct 29 (UNI) The Tripura Government has demanded the Union Government to arrange various packages for the rehabilitation of child labourers.

Speaking to reporters last night, State Labour Minister Fayzur Rehman protesting the recent introduction of the Act to stop child labour in the country, demanded that the Union Labour Ministry should provide various financial assistance for rehabilitation of the child labourers.

He said the state government had introduced the Act as per the Union Government's instruction and urged Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandez to provide financial help to the child labourers for their rehabilitation.

Child labourers in the state had not been identified officially though a Project Report for Rs ten lakh was sent to the Centre a long ago to carry out a survey to find out the figures in the state but no reply had been received so far from the Union Ministry, Mr Rehman said.

If once approval was given by the Centre, the state would able to wipe out child labour completely, he added.
