Seven feared drowned; one body recovered

Jamshedpur, Oct 29 (UNI) At least seven people were feared drowned in the Subarnarekha near Jayprakash Narayan bridges under Sitaramdera police station during Chhat festival here this morning.

Police said the youths went to bathe in the river after Chhat puja and were swept away by a strong current.

Several divers were engaged in rescue work and one body of a 16- year-old youth had been recovered so far.

Senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police, were supervising the rescue work.

Local MLA from Jugsalai and Land Reforms Minister Dulal Bhuiyan, Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahto and several other political leaders were present at the site.
