Second Afro-Asia cup to be held in Chennai in June 2007

Mohali, Oct 29 (UNI) Chennai will host the second Afro-Asia Cup cricket tournament from June 6 to 10 next year.

The three matches -- day-night affair -- will be played at Chepuak on June 6, 8 and 10.

Along with the Cup, two Twenty20 matches will also be played on June 5 on the same venue.

The matches will be between Women's Asia XI Vs Africa XI and Men's 'A" teams of Asia and Africa.

This was decided at the meeting of the Afro-Asia Cricket Council here today.

The second edition of the Cup will carry a prize money of of 100,000 dollars. Winners are assured of a cheque of 25,000 dollars, the man of match will get 5,000 dollars while man of the tournament would be richer by 10,000 dollars.

Apart from that, participating players will be paid 5000 dollars for each match.

According to the release of the Council, 70 per cent of all net proceedes of the tournament will go to the host continent's cricket development body, 20 per cent to the visitors and 10 per cent to Sightsavers International, a charity organisation.

The first Afro-Asia cup was held in South Africa in August 2005.
