Saint Jalaram's 207th birth anniversary celebrated today

Rajkot, Oct 29 (UNI) Thousands of Gujaratis all over Saurashtra region today celebratated the 207th birth anniversary of Saint Jalaram of Virpur.

Celebrations had been arranged in almost all the major towns and cities of Saurashtra to commemorate the occasion.

Sainth Jalaram, who lived in the 19th century, was famed for his secular outlook and the zeal to serve the needy.

A special Committee, headed by Vishwa Lohana Maha Parishad President Jayantibhai Kundalia today organised a big Sobha Yatra here from Chaudhari High School. More then 5000 people are taking part in the procession, a spokesman of the committee said.

''Jalaram Rath Yatra'' traverses the main thoroughfare of the city before concluding at Panchnath Mandir here.

A total of 22 attractive floats have been prepared for the yatra, highlighting the life of Saint Jalaram Bapa, the spokesman said.
