Residents 'road roko' affects traffic on Cuddalore Road

Puducherry, Oct 29 (UNI) Traffic on the Cuddalore Road was affected for over an hour, following a 'road roko' by the residents of Chetilal Nagar at Murugambakkam near here today.

The residents affected by the incessant rain for the last few days resorted to the agitation to press the Government to pump out the water from inside their houses.

Tahsildar Yaswanthiah along with police officals held talks with the agitatators and assured them that action would be taken to pump out the water forthwith, following which they called off the agitation.

The revenue department officials today provided food to about 5,000 people evacuated from their residences and accommodated in schools and marriage halls at different places.
