Railways beat UP, Rajasthan defeats MP in Mankad Trophy

Indore, Oct 29 (UNI) Railways defeated Uttar Pradesh by 17 runs, while Rajasthan outplayed hosts Madhya Pradesh by 41 runs in under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophey One day Central league matches here today.

Both the teams gained four points from their wins.

Electing to bat first against UP, Railways scored 194 runs for nine wickets in 50 overs with the help of Arun Rawat's unbeaten 52 and a 42-run knock by Irfan Ahmed.

Abhishek Tiwari scalped four wickets while Bhuvneshwar Singh took two for UP.

In reply, UP were all out for 177 runs in 47.3 overs. Eklavya Dwivedi scored 44 while Subodh Shrivastava contributed 39 runs for them. For Railways, Irfan Ahmed took three wickets while Gaurav Tiwari, Arun Rawat, P Singh and Sanjay Pandey scalped one each.

In the other match, Rajasthan, batting first, scored 255 runs for nine wickets in 50 overs, aided by 78 from Manish Sharma and 39 not out by Sumit Khatri. Mayank Jagdale took five.

Chasing the victory target, MP team could manage only 214 runs for nine wickets and lost the game by 41 runs. Openers Madhav Saxena scored 63 and Manoj Singh contributed 37 but that was not enough in the end.

For the winners, Sumit Khatri took five wickets while Gajendra Singh took two.
