Parin Chopra advances to final

Puducherry, Oct 29 (UNI) Parin Chopra of Maharashtra scored an upset victory over top seed Abhimanyu Sing of Madhya Pradesh 21-13, 21-11 to storm into the finals of the 20th Sub-Junior National Badminton Championships here today.

In the other semi-finals second seed Partik Patel of Gujarat outplayed Aditya R Prakash of Karnataka 15-21, 22-20, 22-20 to meet Parin in the finals here tomorrow.

In the girls under-16 event top seed N Sikky Reddy of Andhra Pradesh entered the finals defeating Vaishali Barija of Gujarat 21-14, 21-15. Sikky would meet P C Tulasi of Kerala who trounced Vinitha Ghate of Maharashtra 21-18, 21-12 in the second semi-finals.

In the boys under-13 event, Pratul Joshi and Sameer, both from Madhya Pradesh would lock horns for the title here tomorrow. In the semi-finals Pratul Joshi defeated N V S Vijetha of Andhra Pradesh 21-16, 21-17 while Sameer prevailed over Saharsh, also of Andhra Pradesh 21-9, 21-15.

Andhra Pradesh girls Leela Lakshmi and M Chandana would clash for the girls under-13 title tomorrow.

While Leela outplayed Daya Elsa Jacob of Kerala 21-10, 21-19, Chandana prevailed over Gauri Ghate of Maharashtra 21-18, 21-08.
