Militants ban organization of Miss contest in Kut festival

Imphal, Oct 29 (UNI) The Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) has stopped Chavang Kut festival, the only harvesting festival of the Chin Kuki Mizo families in Manipur, has not been celebrated as it includes Miss Kut contest.

KLA representative Malsawm Kuki said the decision was taken to follow the true spirit and real meaning of the festival.

He said, ''It is very unfortunate to witness every Chavang Kut celebrated completely devoid of its true meaning. The Miss Kut Contest was stealing the entire show which was not related with Kut.

He said songs and cultural dances would be the main attractions of the festival.
