Keralites forced into prostitution escapes

Dubai, Oct 29 (UNI) Two women from Kerala, who were forced into prostitution after being brought to the UAE last month on false promise of a job, escaped from the aparment in which they were locked up in.

The women, aged 31 and 39 years, yesterday succeeded in breaking the apartment's door with the help of a person hailing from their own state and escaped from the brothel.

The duo, were later taken to the Indian Consulate here and had been temporarily kept under its shelter.

The two were recruited as cleaners for a Sharjah hospital by Westa Enterprises, Thoppumpady, Ernakulam. They arrived in Sharjah on September 10 on a visit visa.

However, they were taken straight from the airport to the apartment, where they were forced to entertain people. On refusal, they were physically assaulted, an Indian community worker said.

The three accused who allegedly ran the brothel were identified as Qader, Naseer and Rafiq.
