Kaginele Peetha to open branches in Udupi, Tirupati
Haveri, Karnataka, Oct 29 (UNI) The Kanaka Guru Peetha seer Shri Jagadguru Niranjanapuri swamiji said today that he proposed to open branches of the peetha at Udupi in the state and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh soon.
Speaking on the occasion of his 'Pattabhisheka' at Kaginele in the district, the seer said the honour received by him today was the honour of the whole Kuruba (pastor's) community. Instead of mere talking people should practice equality in the society, he said.
Pastors is the third largest sect in Karnataka after Vokkaligas and Lingayats.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who was present on the occasion, said the Kanaka peetha was not only limited to one community but to all the exploited communities.
State Water Resources minister K S Ishwarappa, Ariculture minister Bandeppa Kashempur and Panchayat Raj minister C M Udashi were present on the occasion.
