Italian company to import pineapple slice from Tripura

Agartala, Oct 29 (UNI) The processed pineaple goods are going to find its market in the Europe shortly.

An agreement had already been struck between a local fruit processing organisation here and an Italian company.

As per the agreement Italy had decided to import 1,02,000 quota full of pineapple slice this year from the state, famous for its pineapple.

The European company had given an amount of Rs 17 lakh to the local fruit processing unit for this purpose.

A two-member delegation from Italy Oltro Marketo Company arrived here and visited Nalkata in North District, where a fruit processing unit North-Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NEAMAC) is situated.

The delegation members Luiza Kathlina and Cladio Brigado held a press conference yesterday with the unit officials and signed the agreement to import pineapple slice from the state.

Following the decision of exporting the processed fruits from the state, the farmers of pineapple growers would be benefited to a great extent, said official of the Piyush Agrotech unit, which will export the slice to Italy.
