Kolkata, Oct 29 (UNI) Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IRIDA) will conduct an energy audit in two of the most important government buildings-Writers' Building and New Secretariat--and take up an energy conservation project.

West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA) Director S P GonChoudhury told UNI today that in order to reduce energy consumption of these two government buldings, IRIDA would appoint experts to conduct the audit.

Initially, a meeting would be organised in the city on November seven to discuss the modalities of the audit.

The audit would identify the areas where energy had been consumed most and chalk out a mechanism to decrease it. After the audit is completed, the Centre would design an energy conservation model.

The energy conservation project would be designed by IRIDA, and Union Ministry of Renewable Energy and implemented by WEBREDA and state Public Works Department.

Mr Gonchaudhury said,''We will try to reduce energy consumption of internal lighting system, elevator, airconditioning systems, water and pumping facilities. Solar and other energy saving devices will be used for this.'' The total project would be funded by the Centre. However, the total project cost would be decided after November seven, he said.
