India hopes for free and fair elections in Bangladesh

New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) India today said it hopes that the people of Bangladesh will be allowed to exercise their right to choose their own government in a free and fair manner in the forthcoming elections in accordance with their Constitution.

As a friendly neighbour, India is naturally interested in Bangladesh remaining ''peaceful, democratic and stable'' and is ''closely watching developments'' in that country, a spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs said.
