Hyderabad, Kerala, Karnataka enjoy top spot

Hyderabad, Oct 29 (UNI) Hosts Hyderabad, along with Kerala and Karnataka were jointly on top spot with eight points after the rain affected fourth round matches in the U-22 South Zone cricket championship being played here today.

All the six teams were awarded one point each as first innings in all the three matches were not completed. Third day's match between Andhra and Karnataka was completely washed out.

While the match between Tamil Nadu and Goa was stopped after tea, with the latter making 229 losing 8 wickets in 88.3 overs in their first innings.

Rohit Asnodkar (70, 246 balls, 2x4) was the lone fighter for Goa.

Naresh (6/75) was the pick of the Tamil Nadu bowlers.

Hosts Hyderabad could not complete Kerala innings as rain stopped at tea break, with visitors on 228 for the loss of 8 wickets in 75.3 overs. Vincent Gomes (104 n o, 170 balls, 12x4) and CM Tejus (56, 88 balls, 6x4) involved in century partnership, helped Kerala to avoid giving away first innings lead to hosts.

Kaushik Reddy took 4 for 86, while MP Arjun and Pragyan Ojha took two wickets each.

Fifth and final round matches would begin on Tuesday.
