Govt to provide compensation for displaced in ICTT project

Kochi, Oct 29 (UNI) Kerala Fisheries Minister S Sarma today informed that an understanding has been struck to provide compensation to those who could be displaced by the rail connectivity to the Vallarpadam International Container Transshipment Terminal.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Sarma said in a recent meeting with the concerned officials and local representatives an understanding has been reached where by adequate land would be given to those who could be displaced by the railway line.

Apart from the minister, the meeting was attended by Revenue Minister K P Rajendran, K V Thomas MLA and Babu MLA.

He said the government was in process of expiding the related work for the project.

The minister said the 50-day golden jubilee celebration of the state formation in the district would commence from November 1.

He said the celebrations would be marked by cultural programmes to highlight the rich heritage of the state.
