Dullo hopes PM would announce economic package for farmers

Jalandhar, Oct 29 (UNI) Punjab Congress Chief Shamsher Singh Dullo today claimed that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh would soon announce an economic package for debt ridden farmers of Punjab.

Talking to reporters here today Mr Dullo said that Prime Minister is expected to pay a visit to Punjab in November and the package would also be announced by him during his visit to the state.

He said that the party state unit would also reiterate its demand of industrial package for the state for faster industrial devlopment.

However, Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) president and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal ridiculed Mr Dullo's statement.

Talking to reporters, Mr Badal said that the ruling party was not bothered of the miseries of the farmers but it was only eyeing on the assembly elections.

He said that Mr Dullo's statement was a ''mere election stunt'' and nothing more.

Both Mr Dullo and Mr Badal were in the town to participate in the Hind Samachar Group's Shaheed Parivar Fund function here today.
