Discharge in river Cauvery, Vennar suspended
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 29 (UNI) Water discharge into river Cauvery and Vennar from the Grand Anaicut in Thanjavur district for the purpose of irrigation has been suspended, since this morning because of heavy rains in the Delta districts, due to the influence of the North East Monsoon.
State PWD sources said since the Delta districts were receiving heavy rains, there was no demand from the Ryots.
However, about 2,513 cusecs of water was let out into Grand Anaicut canal and a meagre 401 cusecs into river Coleroon for irrigation in a few pockets.
Meanwhile, the water level in the Stanely Reservoir at Mettur across river Cauvery stod at 95,800 ft, this morning as against its full capacity of 120 ft.
The inflow into the reservoir was 9,237 cuescs and the discharge 100 cusecs, they added.
