Depression over bay intensifies into cyclonic storm
Visakhapatnam, Oct 29 (UNI) The deep depression over West Central Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm, and lay at about 50 km east of Kavali this evening.
A special bulletin issued by CWC here this evening said it was likely to intensify further and move in a northerly direction and cross Andhra coast between Ongole and Kakinada by tonight.
Gale winds with speed 70 to 80 kmph along and off coastal areas of Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna, East and West Godavari and Visakhpatnam districts caused damage to kutcha houses.
The squally winds with speed 50 to 60 kmph were likely to occur along and off the coastal areas of Nellore, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours.
The fishermen were advised not to venture into sea.
The danger signal number 7 hoisted at Vadarevu and Nizampatnam ports, danger signal number six at Machilipatnam and Kakinada ports.
Local cautionary signal number three hoisted at Krishnapatnam, Vizag Bheemunipatnam and Kalingapatnam ports, it added.
