Chhath festival concludes

Patna, Oct 29 (UNI) Four-day celebration of Chhath festival concluded today with offering of 'arghya' to the rising Sun standing in waist deep water in the sacred Ganga, other rivers and lagoons and ponds throughout Bihar.

State administration made eleborate arrangements for smooth conduct of the biggest religious festival of Bihar and the days of celebration passed off peacefully with no major untoward incident reported from any district.

Lakhs of devotees propitiated the setting and rising Sun on Saturday evening and Sunday morning respectively, on the rivers and ponds seeking blessing from the Sun God.

Rigorous fast and other rites religiously followed by devotees during the celebrations came to an end with the Sun worship today thus making them fit and eligible to consume cooked food.

The centuries old Surya Mandir (Sun Temple) at Aurangabad attracted large number of devotees during the festival days.
