Lucknow, Oct 29 (UNI) Campaigning for the crucial second phase of elections to 11 Nagar Nigams in Uttar Pradesh ended this evening, where polling would be held on October 31.

Polling for Nagar Palika Parishads (municipalities) in 14 districts of Eastern UP would also be held tomorrow as it could not be done yesterday following the 'Chhath' festival.

The State Election Commission (SEC) has also ordered re-polling in all such booths where polling percentage was more than 85 per cent.

The poll campaign for the Nagar Nigams (corporations) were being seen as crucial for all the political parties in the state Assembly elections due early next year.

Except for Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, polling for rest 11 Nagar Nigams would be held on Tuesday. Polling for the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam would be held in the third phase on November 3.

Meanwhile, the SEC has ordered re-polling in 72 booths of 12 districts in the Nagar Palika Parishad polls which were held yesterday.

The Commission has also ordered re-polling on such booths where polling percentage would be 85 per cent or more than that following large scale complaints of booth capturing or rigging.

The Commission was probing into the recommendation made by the district magistrate of Gonda for re-polling in all 83 polling booths of the Nagar Palika Parishad following large scale violence during the elections yesterday.
