BSNL to connect all villages in Mizoram

Aizawl, Oct 29 (UNI) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) authorities today announced that each and every village in Mizoram will be connected through a network of WLL Base Tranceiver Stations by the end of March 2007.

Talking to UNI, BSNL Mizoram SSA, General Manager, K V Subbarao informed that about 23 new WLL BTS would be installed especially in the remote places of the state to attain maximum reach.

With the commissioning of these WLL BTS, villages within 15-25km radial distance will be connected by the tele-network, he added.

With the total 30 number of BTS activated, most of the villages in Mizoram will be having telephone facilities by March 2007.

Mr Subbarao also mentioned that the Mizoram tele-density had increased subsantially during the year and said the current tele-density in the state is 10.5 per hundred persons.

He said the 12 small exchange connectivity around the state would be replaced by digital media for better clarity of communication and the existing Digital Microwave System (DMW) in other exchanges would be upgraded to 32 megabyte.

Gautam Saha, senior divisional engineer, also said once the Optic Fibre Cable (OFC) laying work was over, the mobile and land connectivity to other cities and state would be much clear besides there would be a one hundred per cent increase in internet connection in the state.
