Bangla violence affects trade between India and Bangladesh
Bongaon, Indo-Bangladesh border, Oct 29 (UNI) Political instability and unabated violence in Bangladesh is affecting foreign trade between India and Bangladesh in this sector since yesterday, official sources said here today.
Bangladesh border authorities prevented the entry of vehicular traffic carrying goods yesterday at Petrapol near here and Ghojadanga border near Basirhat in the 24 Parganas district.
No goods carriers were allowed to cross the international border today, a Customs official at Petrapol border said adding that the international bus service between Dhaka and Kolkata was also interrupted.
While the vehicular traffic was not allowed to enter Bangladesh through Ghoja danga, the pedestrians were, however, allowed to move in restricted manner, sources said.
They said a large number of trucks laden with essentials were stranded at the terminals here and on NH 35.
