Atwal in Doha for parliamentary forum

New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) Deputy speaker of Lok Sabha Charanjit Singh Atwal is attending a parliamentary forum being held at sixth international conference for new or restored democracies in Doha.

The three-day forum beginning today has been organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in cooperation with the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and Qatar's advisory council.

The meet will provide an opportunity for exchange of information and experience on progress achieved in the past three years by countries with new or restored democracies. It will also be a useful opportunity for deepening interactive dialogue on democracy among government representatives.

The overall theme of the forum is Dialogue, Tolerance and Freedom of Expression as the Cornerstone of Democracy where participants will examine parliament as a platform for national dialogue, conflict resolution and reconciliation.
