AP police register first case under domestic violence Act
Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 29 (UNI) Police today registered the first ever case in Andhra Pradesh under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 against a bank officer who harassed his wife and killed his ten-month-old daughter.
According to police, Satish Kumar, Junior-Manager working in a corporate bank had been harrassing his wife Maheswari for additional dowry since three months. A case has been registered by the police on a complaint lodged by his wife.
On October 22, 2006, Satish kumar came home in an inebriated condition and beaten up his wife and kicked his child. The kid who was admitted to a local hospital died late last night, the police added.
The accused is absconding.
