Akbar has no link with any terrorist groups: Parents

Alappuzha, Oct 29 (UNI) The parents of Akbar Raj, arrested for sending e-mails threatening President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, today claimed their son had become mentally unstable for a while after a failed love affair.

''Our son had no links with any terrorist group or party,'' his parents Saithalavi and Zainabba said.

They said Akbar, who was arrested last night, was mentally deranged for some time after his relationship with a girl broke up.

Saithalavi, a retired government employee, said Akbar was a studious student and had completed Diploma in hardware with distinction.

The accused, hailing from Cherthala near here, was working as a hardware expert in a private firm in Kochi.

The neighbours of Akbar found him very affable and expressed their surprise on the incident.
