Woman washed away in flash floods

Chennai, Oct 28 (UNI) A 25-year-old woman was washed away in flash floods in a canal in a village in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu today, taking the toll in rain-related mishaps to 19.

Reports received at police headquarters here said the woman, Mariammal was crossing the Korangudi canal when she was swept away by flash floods.

Meanwhile, flood waters entered several houses at Sankaralingapuram under Kovilpatti East police station in Tuticorin district.

However, there were no adverse incidents.
