Tight security at for Sonia's rally Dharamsala

Dharamsala, Oct 28 (UNI) Over 1,100 police personnel will be deployed at various places of the town during All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi's rally here on October 30, district ASP Santosh Patial said today.

Talking to UNI here, he said out of these, 500 police officials were the rank of inspectors and sub inspectors, who would be supervised by another 22 senior level police officials to ensure that the rally concludes without any untoward incident.

He said the district police has also decided to regulate traffic during the rally to ensure smooth movement.

Mr Patial said no one would be allowed to carry mobile phones, bags, tiffin boxes and bottles with them to the rally venue.

According to official sources, Ms Gandhi would first fly to Paprola where she would inaugurate former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's statut at the local Ayurveda College and later fly to Dharamshala Cantonment area from where she would proceed by road to the rally venue.

The AICC President would also hold a meeting with party functionaries in the local circuit house here before flying back to Delhi, the sources said.

Senior state party leaders and several ministers have already reached Dharamshala to take stock of the preparations besides mobilising public support for the rally, which has been criticized by the state BJP.

Senior BJP leader and former transport minister Kishan Kapoor today alleged that government machinery was being used to make Ms Gandhi's rally a success and hundreds of thousands of rupees had been spent on it already.
