Thind remanded in judicial custody till November 11

Patiala, Oct 28 (UNI) Controversial Himachal Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (CID and law and order) B S Thind, was sent in judicial custody till November 11 by a designated court here today.

Thind, wanted in cases of financial bungling, was arrested yesterday by the CBI at Chandigarh.

Meanwhile, Thind's lawyers moved a bail application in the court the hearing of which was reserved for October 31.

Thind, along with co-accused Harjinder Singh, was produced in the court of Special CBI Judge Harinder Sidhu this afternoon amid tight security.

He was accompanied by a battery of lawyers, who contended before the judge that he had been falsely implicated in the fraud cases as he was expected to be promoted as the Director General of Police in Himachal Pradesh. Thind was being targeted by his professional rivals, they alleged.

However, the CBI argued that there was sufficient documentary evidence that could establish in the court of law that Thind had committed the frauds with the banks to the tune of crores of rupees.

After listening to both the sides for about 20-minutes, the judge directed that Thind and Harjinder Singh be kept in judicial custody till November 11.
