Cong leader Ram Lal Tripathi shot dead in Varanasi

Varanasi, Oct 28: Veteran Congress leader and former PCC member Ram Lal Tripathi was today gunned down by unknown assailants in the Adampur area here.

According to police sources, two motorcycle-born assailants fired at Mr Tripathi at Lat Bhairav area under the Adampur police station here, leading to the Congress leader's death at the spot.

The assailants escaped immediately.

Police sent the body for postmortem to the hospital at the Banaras Hindu University and have launched an immediate search for the assailants.
