Seminar on resurgent India begins

Shillong Oct 28 (UNI) The two-week workshop on "Resurgent East" begin held under the aegis of Sri Aurobindo Institute of India Culture (SAIIC) and Resurgent India continued for the 3rd day at the auditorium of SAIIC here on Saturday, October 28, 2006.

Dr Sashikant Pranigrahi spoke on Bahai views of education initiating the discussion on "Our education".

He told the participants that the material and spiritual aspects of Education have to be synthesized to give birth to a system that serves the twin purpose of earning and learning making the economic man, the political man, a better and better human begins. Else, increasing material prosperity is bound to increase the conflicts and violence, given the ego, the greed, the temptation in man unerased. Only value based education can solve the burning problems of growing corruptions and criminality.

Prof. Kireet Joshi, former Secretary and Education Adviser to the Govt. of India, presiding over the session narrated his experience of how ignorance about traditions and philosophical basis of education of India have crippled educational planning and correct policy making.
