Police review investigation into e-mail threat

Kochi, Oct 28 (UNI) A high-level meeting of police officials under Central Zone DIG K Padmakumar was held here today to review the investigation into the e-mail threat to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his scheduled visit to the state on November 1.

Mr Padmakumar, heading a special squad to investigate the case, told UNI the meeting of top district police officials including City Police Commissioner P Vijayan was called to review progress in the investigation. The probe was progressing, he said, but declined to divulge details.

Police yesterday rounded up the owner of the internet cafe here, from where the e-mail was reportedly sent, his wife and two other employees for questioning.

The e-mail, sent to some top officials, contained a threat to the Prime Minister's life during his scheduled visit to the state capital and a threat to the President.
