One polio case found, DM orders probe

Mirzapur, Oct 28 (UNI) District Magistrate Umesh Kumar Mittal has ordered inquiry after a three-year old girl was found infected with polio virus.

Small girl Ranno of Vishnupatti village was administered polio drops but was still found infected with polio, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr O P Singh said after visiting the village with the DM.

The fresh polio case came as a shock to the district administration which did not rule out irregualrity in polio drop dosage.

The DM has ordered inquiry about the polio vaccine, its efficay and the role of the employees who were reponsible for giving polio drops in the area.The report was expected by tomorrow evening, the CMO said.

Earlier, six polio cases had been reported from Aurai blaock of adjacent district of Sant Ravidas nagar.
