National Handball tournament from Nov 1

Lucknow, Oct 28 (UNI) The 21st National Handball championship for men and women is slated to start from November 1 here.

Organising secretary of the championship Aanandeshwar Pandey said the league-cum-knockout basis tournament would be held under the auspices of District Sports Welfare Committee, while the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation would be the co-sponser.

The teams from Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Jharkhand, CRPF, CISF, Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) and host Uttar Pradesh in the men's category and for the women's category teams from Railways, Chhatisgarh, Delhi, Manipur, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh will fight for the titles in the five day tournament to be played at the K D Babu Stadium.

In the last edition at Indore, SSCB was the winner, while Chhattisgarh claimed the runners up title in men category.

Railways and Chhatisgarh were the winners and runners up in women category.
