Low pressure brings heavy rain to South Coastal AP

Hyderabad, Oct 28: The north east monsoon was vigorous in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh today as a trough of low pressure formed over westcentral bay.

Under the influence of the system, isolated heavy to very heavy showers are likely over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 48 hrs, according to the Met Office here.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy cancelled his tour of Guntur district following heavy rains, which was, however, considered to be beneficial to farmers in the region.

Rain or thundershowers were forecast at most places in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and at many places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places over Rayalaseema and Telangana.

Light rains were likely in Hyderabad where maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 29 and 20 degree Celsius respectively.

Rain occurred at many places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and at a few places over Telangana in the last 24 hours.

Kavali and Kandukur recorded a heavy rainfall of nine cm each, followed by Nellore and Tuni eight cm each and Machilipatnam seven, Gudur six, Ongole five, Nalgonda four, Kakinada, Vijayawada Airport, Madhira and Nagarjunasagar Dam three each.

The maximum temperatures fell at a few places over Telangana and Rayalaseema and at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours.

The maximum temperature of 33 degree Celsius was recorded at Bhadrachalam, Hanumakonda and Tuni.

The minimum temperature of 18 degree Celsius was recorded at Arogyavaram.
