Jailed dacoit demands ransom

Bhind, MP, Oct 28 (UNI) A dacoit lodged in Etawa jail in Uttar Pradesh has reportedly demanded Rs 10 lakh ransom for freeing two youths abducted from Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, police sources said today.

Police said Pravin Yadav and Jitendra Yadav of Jawaharpura village near here were abducted when they came here to meet relatives on October 13.

In a letter purportedly sent by them to their family members, they directed to hand over Rs 10 lakh as ransom to dacoit Raju Kushwaha, at present lodged in Etawa jail. The abductors had also threatened to kill them if the ransom was not paid and told them face other consequences if police was informed, the letter added.

Dacoit Raju Kushwaha, who carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh, sought ransom of Rs 6 lakh for freeing Pravin and Rs 4 lakh for Jitendra.

Police has registered a case of kidnapping.
