Hubli, Oct 28 (UNI) Human Rights Protection Foundation Udupi's Hubli-Dharwad unit will become functional tomorrow to cater to problems of the people of the North Karnataka region.

Announcing this at a press conference here today, a functionary of the organisation and Public Interest Movement Founder in Dakshina Kannada district Dr Ravindranath Shanabag, said the objective of the unit was to lend support to victims of injustice, regardless of their social position.

The methodology of the organisation had been entirely democratic and free from any political affiliation, he added.

Mr Shanabag, said, ''We have adhered to the principle of 'Ahimsa' as laid down by Mahatma Gandhi. We neither charge any fee for our services nor receive any Governmental support. We have consistently tried to avoid legal wrangles through the overburdened judicial system of the country.'' The organisation believes in initiating matured dialogue between victims and agents of oppression and empowering them in steadfast struggle through articles in media, relentless correspondence and constant dialogue. ''We have always succeeded in mobilising public opinion against injustice and exploitation,'' he said.
