Hoax call triggers panic

Kolkata, Oct 28 (UNI) A hoax phone call warning that a bomb was ticking triggered panic among employees in an office building and sent police scurrying to ensure security in the busy office area of the city today.

An anonymous caller rang up the security of Nilhat House on R N Mukherjee road to say that a bomb had been planted in the multi-storeyed building. This sounded an alarm and the employees working there were made to evacuate the building in a short time.

As police were informed, a bomb detection and disposal squad rushed to the spot from the city police headquarters at Lal Bazar, a stone's throw away from the building.

However, a thorough one-hour search in the building proved futile as nothing was found.
