GKB Opticals to open more outlets

Chennai, Oct 28: The Kolkatta-headquartered GKB Opticals, India's major manufacturer of opthalmic lenses and other optical products, will foray into B class cities as part of its expansion plans and take its tally to 50 outlets by the end of next year.

Talking to reporters after launching its new outlet here, GKB Lens Pvt Ltd Managing Director B K Gupta said the company would expand into B cities like Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Mysore, Rajkot, Surat and Udaipur.

The company would add more outlets in the metros too to take its tally to 50 stores by 2007, he added.

On the new state-of-the-art outlet, he said it contained a contact lens clinic along with a digital eye testing facility.

The 2,800 sq ft showroom was the fifth in the city and 23rd Pan India and was the biggest of all the stores in the country.

Cartier, Swarovski, Versace, Mont Blanc, Hugo Boss, Porsche, Tommy Hilfiger, Vogue, Seiko, Rodenstock, Gucci, Armani, Oakley and Levis were some international brands showcased.

The GKB ranges included Marco, Sundrive, Inspira, Brendro Salvani, Titanium IVUX and Miyabi, Mr Gupta added.
