Gangster escapes after shootout, policeman injured

Gurgaon, Oct 28 (UNI) A policemen was seriously injured after some associates of a notorious gangster indulged in a shootout with the police to free him from custody this evening.

The shootout occurred on the Dharwade-Manesar road when four associates of a notorious gangster Anand shot at the police vehicle in which he was being taken to Bhondsi jail in Gurgaon after a court hearing in Kishangarh in Rajasthan, police said.

A police constable Ramesh was seriously injured in the firing by the ganssters who managed to free Anand.

The policemen has been admitted in the Pushpanjali hospital in Gurgaon in serious condition.

Police are making efforts to ascertain the whereabouts of Anand, a resident of Darbarpur village in Gurgaon.
