Efforts to boost marketing facility for farmers: Gyurme

Itanagar, Oct 28 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh government is making sincere efforts to boost marketing facilities for farmers, according to state Agriculture Minister Tsering Gyurme.

The minister informed this in the Assembly yesterday while responding to a private member resolution moved by Independent MLA Ngurang Pinch.

Mr Gyurme said the state government is contemplating setting up more cold storages in various parts of the state and the matter was being taken up with the Centre.

While admitting that the farmers of the state faced problem for marketing their produce in outside markets due to existing communication bottlenecks, the minister said that the government was taking steps to strengthen the marketing committee in the districts by placing more funds, providing logistic support by building godwons and purchasing trucks to enable farmers to sell their produce in the market.

Mr Gyurme also assured to depute a team for looking into the grievances of the farmers and assesses the losses incurred by them.
