CPI(M) urges Govt to withdraw land acquisition notices
Hyderabad, Oct 28 (UNI) The CPI(M) today urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to withdraw the government notices to acquire fertile agricultural land in Guntur district for setting up textile parks.
In a letter to Dr Reddy, CPI(M) State Secretariat Member Y Venkateswara Rao said the government had issued notification to acquire 437.4 acres of land in Chilakaluripet constituency, which was fertile and cultivated by small and marginal farmers.
He said as an alternative, the government should make use of 300 acres of land available at Boyapalem and Kondaveedu villages for the textile park.
Mr Rao said his party opposed the acquisition of 189 acres of fertile land for setting up another textile park in Hyderpet under Bapatla rural mandal in Guntur district.
